What is Candid?

Candid is a way for you to voice your opinion about specific topics, without having your ideas linked to your personal information. Social media is a great way to share and view content from your friends. It's not always to best place to brag about your new orca-skin coat. Looking for information please...

I have a MetroPCS Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL 5054N w/ Android 5.1.1... I rooted with KingoRoot to remove bloatware and get as bit more performance out of it. And being a happy legit Pokemon Go player I have been very sad trying to unroot my phone because apparently the KingoRoot unroot option unroots but I am still unable to play Pokemon Go... I have gotten my phone unlocked and have turned on access to the bootloader in Developers Options, but I'm stuck here. Idk to try and find a stock rom to recover to, or to try and use Magisk, the app that allows you to mount and unmount root. If someone could take some time to help me or just point me in the right direction I'd be super appreciative...

I am confused of how to safely use a VPN. If I connect only from my Kodi Raspberry PI2 to my second raspberry PI2 that is running as a VPN server, is that enough to hide/encrypt say, an IPTV stream, if using 2048 encryption? Or do I need to connect through my router as a client, to my PI2 VPN first, to completely encrypt traffic and hide my IP?

I'm pretty new to setting up a VPN, so go easy on me. If the above scenario isn't correct what is the best way to setup an in home VPN server? I'd rather avoid paying for a third party VPN service if possible.

Switched to 3.2.6 and now I get absolutely no mobile data connection.

So pretty much I went from the community build (3.5.2?) to paranoid rom to another rom and now to the official oxygen rom and I cannot get mobile data. I have the right APN settings, this SIM card is fairy new (like a month old) and it was a clean flash, didn't try to keep any of my old data. Anyone else run into this? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

OEM LCD Touchscreen Digitizer Replacement Problem

I have a second generation Shield Tablet K1 that I purchased in December 2015.* The tablet was knocked off a counter and landed face down on travertine tile. The glass/digitizer did remarkably well considering but still had a large crack going down the middle of the screen. The tablet still worked in all regards* and I used it with no issues for 6 weeks. I purchased an NVIDIA SHIELD TABLET P1761W OEM LCD TOUCHSCREEN DIGITIZER on eBay.

I had the new digitizer installed locally at a phone/tablet repair shop. The shop called me and told me the tablet was ready for pickup but there were some issues with certain areas of touch screen not working. Basically the upper half of the touch screen works fine and the lower half does not work at all. As far as I can tell the area that works is exactly 50% of the screen. Just trying to do the basics on it right now is a pain as I have to rotate the tablet 180 degrees every few seconds in order to be able to touch a specific key or an app. Of course the shop won't warranty the work because I didn't buy the digitizer from them. What I'm wondering is if anyone can suggest a specific ribbon wire that may need to be replaced or simply checked to make sure the connection is good on it? Should I replace the touch screen controller?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

How was the S4 ever able to obtain root without ever unlocking the bootloader?

So I am finally ready to move on from my beloved S4 but am realizing that a lot of newer phones cannot be rooted due to the fact that at least with Verizon that their rooting methods require you to unlock the bootloader. I was wondering how devices like the S4 were rooted without ever have unlocked the bootloader (at least in the later versions of updates before loki, where it was locked and when I got the phone), and if anyone can pull up sites that have information on the exploits and methods that were used to accomplish this. Should I buy a Nexus 6P

I am in the market for a new phone and would like to know if I should get a nexus 6p. I like to do custom roms and experiment with roms and stuff recently had the lg g3 but that was a nightmare for custom roms.

I am hearing that the Pixel phone will not be rootable but what phone is out of the box.

I have some bestbuy gift cards and they have the 6p i was going to get the 64gb version but I am torn between waiting for the pixel release to see if its worth it or just get the 6P any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I have sprint and it works great for me so that is just more info I even looked at the axeon but its not supported by sprint.

Battery Life on B27

Ever since I updated its been absolutely awful. Down almost 50% in three hours! I am rooted, but that didn't cause an issue on B20 and doesn't seem to be an issue for other forum posters. Any advice? I've got the 2017U on rooted B27 with locked bootloader.

Need help S5 mini duos G800H someone plzzzz help me !!

i tried to root my s5 mini duos G800H, didnt work got my fone bricked i think, does not turn on, i can only go into the recovery modes, vol up and the vol down ones, i have downloaded a few "stock roms" but none have got my fone back into normal, i downloaded a "recovery" used Odin 3.10.7, did all the right things as videos show to do went to AP, hit start, the recovery one gives "PASS" but when i turn it on (REBOOT) it stays at SAMSUNG S5 MINI screen (LOGO). i reboot it into the volume UP and it gives me a "recovery is not seandroid enforcing"... so ok now i tried to download a new "stock ROM" this one here "twrp_kmini3g-31102014-2247" now when i go into volume UP i get a menu "team win recovery project v2.8.1.0"... but still cant get the fone to start what do i do? what am i doing worng, can someone please help me just get the fone back to normal.? 3 days without a cell fone

Verizon Note 4 Will not flash in Odin

Alright i did a major mess up on my phone , Alright so i was rooted and was on CM13 well i decided to go back to stock rom so i downloaded the lastest Firmware and use odin to flash it and while it was flashing it failed . So i pulled the battery and restarted the phone and now i am hit with the ( Your device didn't update succesfully. Use the Verizon Software repair assistant to repair your deivce ) So i did that and it fails at 84% So i tryed reflashing again via odin and i keep getting failed well when i tryed flashing CF-Auto root to just see if it did anything it failed but when i booted the phone up it went stright to the samsung logo and boot looped so i was ok so i went into recovery and tryed to wipe /factory reset but keep getting a error .



So my thing is idk what to do i have tryed flashing via odin and it keeps failing i get this

No 3G/MMS on SPH-L710 (Sprint GS3) - Running CM11/CWM

First, I don't know much about custom ROMs or root processes in general. I rooted the phone myself, and installed the recovery/flashed the ROMs, but my knowledge is one step above basic, if that.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped being able to send MMS. I simply dealt with it. I don't send a whole lot of pictures. I finally called Sprint yesterday to address the issue, and the wizard on the other side of the line did some sort of magical spell which caused (I think, could've been coincidence) my 3G connection to stop functioning as well after a few reboots.

This is a Samsung Galaxy S3 for the Sprint network. I am currently running CyanogenMod 11 (AV 4.4.4) and have ClockWorkMod installed as my recovery. Fixes I have tried so far include:

- Reflashing all my ROMs
- Updating CM11
- Flashing CM12.1 instead of CM11
- Multiple hard/soft reboots
- TouchWiz MMS Fix
- FreedomPop APN adjustment

Nothing has worked so far. I am at the point where I am about to just purchase a new phone. If it matters, the verdict on the phone with Sprint was to take it to a store, which I did, but when they crack open an AOSP it seems they have no idea what they're doing.

Please help.

Terrible reception/signal quality.

Anyone else getting this? On my first note 7 I noticed a lot of my calls were choppy. In and out pretty much the whole conversation. But i figured I'd see what a new note 7 would do. Now 2 days into my new note 7. Call quality isn't as bad but still unacceptable for such an expensive phone. But now not only this, a lot of things that use data ( internet, apps, etc) is TERRIBLE. I just counted how long it took a website to load. Over 60 secs and the website was still not loaded. My mms aren't sending as quickly as well. This to me again is unnaceptable. Im coming from a note 5 and didnt have any of these problems my entire time. Any ideas on a fix? This is kind of pushing me to iphone7

Horrible Battery Performance After Installing ROMS and ROOTING

Just as it says in the title i am experiencing horrible battery performance on my HTC ONE (M8) ever since i rooted and custom rommed my phone along with other small bugs i noticed. I am currently running the latest DIRTY UNICORNS for the android 6.0 update. Though this was not my first ROM used. Not i will get out of the way that my charging port is very poor quality due to being abused for a while. (Laying in bed with the charging cable and port recieving light pressure while i browse pictures for hours on end.) Anyways. I was charging my phone it being at 34% yesterday and i made sure not to touch it and the little charging light was on indicating charge the entire time while the phone was TURNED OFF. Now at this time I had finished trying out a dozen different roms and was full charging the phone. When i picked up the device about an hour and a half later expecting a full charge it you wont believe me. The phone displayed 17% and was still charging. I was shocked. I figured it was some fluke and left it to charge more. After all i'd installed roms and maybe it'd affected the % reading. I went to pick it up later and the phone was fully dead. but the indicator said 0% and was charging. Now i knew 2 days ago my battery was pristine before rooting my device and before trying out roms. Is it possible i tried a dirty rom that hijacked my phone while it was "Off" ? I have no clue. I know my battery was pristine because on a 1.5A plug my phone would 0-100 in under 2 hours. This is the most of the information i have for you. Again i have no idea what's causing this issue.

Another issue i am having is since i rooted and tried custom roms my LED light on the front of my phone got IIIINNNNCCRREEEdibly dim. It has to be pitch black for you to even see the glow from it. Along with the issue stated above my phone cant seem to charge more than about 35%~ and it takes so long per % i swear i could leave it plugged in WHILE TURNED OFF and it would never reach 100% until the day i keel over and die. Note all battery tests were while the phone was off. Whenever i turn the phone on the % is always different from the on screen while off. (it use to be the same, maybe the ROM messes with that?) Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated. I already am saving up for maintenance on the charging port.

An additional issue I am facing is the fact even with minimalist android 6.0 my HTC ONE M8 is incredibly slow. As in there is absolutely no apps running or installed with this test. But i tried 1 single game and while on a normal HTC update for 6.0 and the game ran smooth with no lag. So what gives? I thought a minimalist android rom would give my phone a power boost with all the bloatware and applications removed.

I began typing this message at 5:45pm MST my time. It's now 5:55pm MST and my phone managed to go from 0%-2%. Now obviosuly anyone whos owned an HTC ONE M8 on the correct charger this thing really charges so what gives?

Yes i am making sure the ROMS i used were compatible with my HTC being on the carier of AT&T. Any and all assistance in my troubles is greatly greatly appreciated. I really hope you can help me with my issue.


**Edit:: Also my Megabits Per Second on wifi greatly decreased. I on the regular android 6.0 by HTC for AT&T was getting 250-300 Mbps. Now i get 130-180. If there's a comment or fix for this i'd also like to know.

****Secondary Edit: When i installed the A ROM(unknown i tried too many) a while back my phone freaked out on install and the charging animation on the front of my phone went from the normal android 6.0 to the old old HTC charging animation for android 4.4. When the phone goes to display charging it shows that new charging icon with the ghastly red text on bottom from rooting/ROMS(You know what i mean haha) and then it switched to an animation of old. Idk how a rom might have changed this i did not.

I need to find a way of rooting my phone (easiest way)

I have rooted phones before but only by using Kingroot etc

I have been going round in circles looking at websites explaining it but don't understand some of it.

All I want is an easy explanation of how to do it that I can follow.

Can I root without unlocking Bootloader? If not, how do I do it?

Fingerprint reader working in US version (after flash)

I purchased (pre-ordered) the X compact from Amazon, and just wanted prospective buyers in the US to know that, after flashing the customized UK firmware from Xperifirm on the phone just now, the fingerprint scanner works perfectly :D , and is super fast compared to the Z5 compact. In fact, it's actually unlocked as the screen turns on - no delay. T-mobile LTE and everything else works fine. It took two minutes to do, and I can totally recommend it if you don't want to order the international version.

In other news, I LOVE this phone, particularly the screen - so bright and vivid, and looks beautiful with the loop design. The camera loads so much quicker than the Z5 compact too, and so far in usage all the other apps I have feels just as fast to load/use, if not faster.

I installed all of the games in the title but none of them work. The first 2 don't even start: if I watch the recent apps tray they aren't there; for "Legend" I get a fast screen that I can see in the recent apps tray that says "File Validation Complete". My questions are: do this games work on your devices? Does anyone have any idea on how i could resolve this? I tried rebooting, reinstalling and looking for privileges of some sort but nothing worked.

Won't boot after Flashfire backup.

I just tried out using Flashfire to create a backup of my phone before attempting to flash a ROM. In the instruction set, I selected a FULL backup, and the next instruction was a reboot. I thought there would be no harm in that. I was wrong. Flashfire appeared to complete the backup (saved to external SD card). Then when the phone went to reboot I get the Samsung Custom screen, followed by the red Verizon screen. That's when things go south. I get a black screen with message boxes appearing saying "Unfotunately, ________ has stopped." It proceeds to pop up messages going through all sorts of apps that stopped working (ei Setting, Fitbit, S Voice, Google Play Store, Video Player etc etc). I can select either Report, or Ok on some of the boxes. Some of them, I only have the option to select Ok. I tried letting it run for a while (30 - 40 minutes) to see if it would eventually get up and running. No luck.

I have tried booting an NC5 tar file from ODIN to get out of this as this has always worked for me in the past when I get stuck on things. I get the same behavior as described above unfortunately.

Can anyone help??

LG G4 5GHz ac Wifi low speed only 200Mbps

I can't get from the phone more than 150Mbps, when I look in to Aida64, in the case I have link speed only. And sometimes is only 50mbps, because LG G4 is sometime connected with 2.4 GHz on 5Ghz Wifi. Nexus 5X can get over 300Mbps and in Aida64 has 400Mbps. SOC is the same, so what's the problem?

OTG adapter and drives not working

is OTG supposed to work with the resurrection remix rom on this tablet?
i got a cheap OTG adapter from aliexpress and when i try to use it with a formatted FAT32 thumb drive android will detect the drive and ask if i want to open ES file explorer but when i try to read the drive there is nothing showing up in there, i put some .jpg and .png files on it and they don't show up so am i doing something wrong? is it my cheap adapter that is faulty or does it just not work on this tablet with this rom?
i tried ES and some other file explorer that was installed with the pico gapps i installed i assume and it shows a usb drive but it is always empty , i never used OTG before BTW so i have no idea what i am doing

Porting Samsung Mail on any android device

I'm addicted to Samsung E-mail client giving me the option to check all the accounts together in 1 windows(gmail can do but you have to select general accounts every time you launch the app).

Mail are separated not together as a long chat making confusion(as GMAIL)

You can resize pictures up to 10% not like GMAIL allow you to send just full size wich is huge...

Everything with Samsung mail is almost perfect.
The only client mail i found with very similar option is Blue Mail...
But i cannot understand why i need always to give them all the permission to use.It is weird...I suppose they can read all my mail on their server with totally no privacy check what Blue Mail asked me?





I just wondering if there is another mail like Samsung client do not ask all this permissions...
Or better if is possible to port Samsung mail to any android device since is by FAR the best mail client i ever used in my all life...It is unbeatable for working...

1. Purpose

• Sometimes G4 series phone happens "Infinite loop Auto power off" issue.
• if phone's symptom is "Infinite loop Auto power off", you should Change a Main board.
• if customer wants to Data Back-up, you should use this Recovery tool.
• Please Data Back-up proceed after Recovery complete.
• This Phone (Recovery was completed) is abnormal Main Board.
• Please don't reuse the Main Board.

2. Installation Procedure

• [Case 1] if there is Previously tot file folder: Delete old tot file folder, Download New tot file folder on C drive

[HOW TO] Get Ting LTE or Other MVNO Data Working on CM13 ROMS

Ok so the issue of Ting LTE not working with CM13 ROMS has be bothering me for sometime now but this past weekend I finally found a fix for it.

Just as a side note the ROM I used with this fix was, OctOs Oct-MM R2 but in theory it should work with all CM13 ROMS for the L720. Also the tool I used is NOT MY WORK! It is the work of xda user, Deega and Buzbe2. I take no credit.

This fix requires the MVNO Slayer tool by Deega and Buzbe2 to work.

These are the exact steps I took to flash the ROM and get data up and running.
1. Flash the CM13 ROM in twrp. (May work with CWM but i have not tested)
2. Without rebooting flash Gapps.
3. Reboot the device.
4. Once the device boots set up the device and wait for it to connect the cell tower. At this time you will not have data of any kind.
5. Reboot to recovery once more and flash MVNO Slayer. You must flash Buzbez2's version if you want Ting LTE.
6. Select the MVNO you wish and reboot.
7. Enjoy fully working LTE.

My Opinion: M vs N as of September 2016

Hi everyone,

Now that N is underway you might be wondering whether or not you should switch from M and I'm here to help you with that. Do keep in mind that I recommend everyone try everything for themselves. I'm just leaving my thoughts here to aid the undecided.

Should I drop CM 13 for 14?

Yes! Please do. Unless you use CMTE, I see no reason to not switch to CM 14. It's maturing at a really fast rate and is ready to be used as a daily driver in my experience. It's great for the majority of you. I recommend giving F-AOSP a shot too while you're at it considering the amount of time that went into getting it to work, and the simplicity of AOSP.

What if I'm using Sultans build/Sultanized RR?

I would stay honestly. His kernel is awesome, he's quick to fix things, and delivers a ROM in an entirely different league. Besides AOSPA and Citrus, it is the only ROM for the OnePlus X that is truly complete CAF right now, and it's great.

What if I don't like CM/AOSP?

We'll firstly, your a moron as every ROM ever uses them as a base. Secondly, stick to M if you need features. Most ROMs are going to be similar at this point if they're N based. Give them time to adopt features.

What if I work for the government?

And you bought an Onyx? Your an idiot. GTFO. Restore to stock lol. But seriously, a bug is expected here and there....

My recommendation

I switch ROMs incredibly frequently. I flash what I feel like. You have to try everything in order to find out for yourself however I can say without a doubt that...p

The winner, for me, is Cardinal AOSP

EVERYTHING is done subtly and really well. It's based on AOSP OMS and adds a lot of stuff that is cleverly put into place. It doesn't feel cluttered and it runs amazingly. Stick to the M builds for now as they are a proper representation of what @rohitporoli and Adarsh can accomplish. It's the pinnacle of what's been done, and I can't say that for most ROMs here. Citrus is their CAF counterpart with CMTE and it's great as well.

Samsung Protection Plus. Note 7 ineligible device?

Here's the thing, I want to get rid of my and my wife's ugly screen protectors and only use our covers. We did this with the Note 4 and haven't seen a scratch in the years we owned them.. but, with the scary reports about the Gorilla Glass used on the N7, I'm wondering if this is such a good idea without insurance (considering our N4s did drop from time to time and have minor damage (scratches) on the sides).

I was thinking of going with Samsung Protection Plus, which seems like a decent option (especially compared to AT&Ts overly expensive insurance - which is totally pointless with the high cost and high deductible IMHO), Samsung offers $129 for two year insurance and a doable deductible. Going to their page: http://ift.tt/1jrZOHf shows the Note 7 is supposed eligible. But when you click the button to go to the next page, the Note 7 isn't listed anymore. If I then enter my IMEI and run the check, it states that my device isn't eligible. Kind of curious considering it was purchased through AT&T and it is a device not affected by the recall (it's one of the replacements), so logically I'd think it should be eligible.

So I'm wondering, did anyone here get insured through Samsung at all? If not, could you see what the IMEI check does with you, see if you're eligible or ineligible... I'm wondering if it is just a few people who have this or if Samsung is actively blocking Note 7s from their insurance as a result of their recall.

Wifi MAC Address changes on every reboot - H90120j

Hi guys,

I have Tmobile LG V10 H90120j which its Wifi MAC address changes on every reboot.

Long story:
It was originally Lollipop, I updated to stock MM v20e then v20j. It was still OK after that.
Then I tried to root it using tungkick's method. However, the bad luck began, I forgot to change the Process to Upgrade instead of Refurbish when upgrade the TOT file. The phone bootloop to TWRP after that. Big thanks to tungkick, he helped recover it.

I realized that from then the Wifi MAC address keeps changing on every reboot. The phone also cannot automatically get APNs from provider (I have to manually add them).
The really bad problem is the MAC issue. Only registered devices can connect to my home and my company Wifi networks. I can temporarily workaround by manually changing MAC address on rooted ROM after every reboot, but it's not an actual fix.

Factory Reset or Restoring to stock v20j can't help.

I did some search and found that some others also had the issue. Some said this method also can fix it: youtube . com /watch?v=8ejnFB5i5o8
But I can't see any nvram folder in my device.

Anyone has any ideas about fixing this, please help :(

HELP: Bricked LG Leon Metro PCS

I was doing a custom rom flash using twrp recovery, i deleted all original system files. When i rebooted my phone it entered a boot-loop. How can i fix this? Xperia Z5C LED Light doesn't mix colors

I bought a Z5C (E5823) from ebay a month ago.

I had a Z3C before and I noticed that the Z3C LED light is much more well made. Initially the Z5C LED is brighter, which initially I thought it was nice. Upon closer inspection, it seems that the Z5C is missing some kind of film or something that the Z3C one has. I can see the individual RGB LEDs inside the opening of the LED light.

You can clearly see in the images that the LED in fact shows the three colors separated. It looks like a venn diagram, with the intended color in the middle. This causes the LED to not display the colors correctly, except full red, green or blue, when only one LED is on.

First, the Z3C pictures. Full frontal and casting the light on a white wall:

Notice that the full frontal pics do not represent the actual color to be portrayed. It actually depends on the angle you look into the hole. Also note the complete color separation into RGB circles.

Root + Android Pay. What does OEM Unlock do?

I rooted my phone only so I could use AdAway. So once I update the hosts file with AdAway, technically I can disable root and only enable root once a week or so to re-run AdAway and update the hosts file again correct?

So I want to use Android Pay too... I keep reading that if I disable root in SuperSU it'll work, but my Android Pay flat out rufuses to work. :(

Only other thing I can think of is disabling OEM Unlock. What does that even do? I'm currently running custom recovey (TWRP).

Does OEM Unlock need to remain enabled? Could that prevent Android Pay working when SuperSU root is disabled? :(

[HELP!] No ROOT method available | Lenovo Vibe K5 Note (Marshmallow)

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note has (Link) been recently released in India and is garnering attention from good number of consumers from India.

However, there is no single working method of unlocking bootloader and rooting Lenovo Vibe K5 Note yet. Nor there is any device specific recovery available. I have googled for this already and could only found methods to root the device that is on LOLLIPOP version and not on MARSHMALLOW.

I appeal for help from developers' community here to come up with a working solution.

Please help with this.

Anyone having notification tone issues?

I haven't added or changed any apps recently. But today, my phone has started sounding the default notification tone about every 3 minutes or so, any time I have a notification icon on my phone. Sometimes even when there's no icon displayed. The only way I've been able to get it to stop is to turn off ALL notifications in ALL apps.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before, or have any idea what I might look at?

Cell phone booster for the 6P?

I've been using my 6P since January, and I really like the phone. But one disappointment is it's ability to pull in a signal in sketchy areas. I spend a fair amount of time in areas that have weak signals, so this is an ongoing aggravation. When I know I'm going to be in a area like that for a few days, I switch back to my old Samsung S5, which is a PITA process with Verizon. Or I use my wife's Note.

I have an older Wilson booster to help with that, but it only allows the 6P to be able to make calls and do some text messaging. With the Note or S5, it usually allows a hotspot to be created.

So my question is, does anyone know of a better signal booster? What is your setup, for folks doing that? It must run on a 12v automotive type system.

Black Screen After Flashing MetroPCS .kdz

So I have a MetroPCS LG G Stylo on the T-Mobile network running I guess 5.1.1 Marshmallow. I say "I guess" because I tried to unroot on 6.0 Marshmallow and ended up half way bricking it through LG Flash Tool when I tried to flash the MetroPCS lollipop .kdz. I don't know, but I booted the phone, and the screen is black. No boot animation, logo, nothing but black with a vibration after turning it on. The notification LED works fine and I can get incoming calls with no problem. The touchscreen is black and I can't interact with it, but the ringtone comes in fine. I'm worried now and don't want to have to replace my phone just yet. Is there any luck with it?

Need help updating ZE551kl from lollipop to marshmallow

Is there a proper tutorial on how to do this update? I have already unlocked the bootloader but i dont have a custom recovery installed. (i cannot find twrp for 5.0, only 6.0)

Can't turn on Axon 7 EU version

My axon 7 just turned off for no reason. It's not rooted, I didn't try to root it. It just turned off and it I can't turn it back on. Recovery Mode is not working. I tried to charge it which also doesn't seem to help.

Snail / Much W3D Thread (wIth pictures of mine)

Good Evening!

I have never (or at least I think that's true) made a thread on here and this is my first time actually logging in other than making an account I've had for a little while. Anyways I ordered this much W3D gaming phone back in 2015 and it was cancelled and I was sad. But when I went back on aliexpress to order it again, I asked the same vendor that told me the company failed (I have that message screen capped lol) told me it was rush shipping over to the US. Fortunately for me I love throwing my money away, but this time I was in for a treat.

Now then, how do I help out this awesome community with the phone? How can I help rip it and copy it online so you guys can play with the software and packages? It's a very bare-bones version of 4.4.1 and has a ton of added features you would see in xposed. Like it seamlessly converted my 128gb mico sd card to it's main internal storage and I didn't do anything! I best of all unlike 6.0 the sd card is totally free and accessible from windows explorer. Unfortunately I have only had it for a short while and haven't tested everything yet. Also I'm sorry if this is the wrong place like I said I've never posted before :eek:

How long would it take a beginner to learn to build a custom rom?

So I've done a bit of research on this already, saw some youtube videos, and these guides http://ift.tt/1pl44ID http://ift.tt/1dWdQ9T

However, since I'm very busy lately, before I decide whether to dive into this, I'm hoping to find a rough idea of how long it might take a total noob like myself to build their first custom rom. I'm not talking about compiling time, but rather actual working/learning/debugging time.

The idea is to take something like a samsung phone, but make a completely debloated rom of my own for it from the AOSP or Cyanogenmod code. Any idea how long this would likely take for my first attempt?

how to use a different lock screen

I've installed a new lock screen but when I unlock it just shows the default lock screen so I basically have a double unlock situation before I can access my device.

When I go to settings - lock screen I can't actually choose another lock screen and under security two options read "disabled by administrator encryption policy for credential storage.".

I've tried going to security "clear credentials", but this doesn't seem to do anything for me.

Help! How to get Marshmallow update with ATT sim card

See title. I got an AT&T sim and the phone did update from 4 to 5.0.1. I've read that there is a Marshmallow OTA update but the phone refuses to update. Says I have 24 hours to try again.

International S7 edge please help

I previously owned an att variant S7 edge. It was used on Straight Talk towers. It broke and I was forced to buy a new one because of no insurance. I went on and bought the International version on Amazon SM G935f.
I notice that there is no "Mobile Networks" option on the phone whatsoever. Without that option, I can't set my apn settings. The Sim card doesn't seem to work either. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced this. Please help!

Chinese "fake" phone bricked for wrong preloader

Well, I write this with the faith that someone can help me. Try to change the ROM of a Chinese cell (this model is supposed to be ALPS K10, but since check the computer and opening applications, I realized that this might not be the model name, Besides, it is supposed to be a clone of the last LG K10). Try changing the rom as they passed many things

- Said he was 8 gb storage, when he was only 4 gb (same for the ram, said it was 1 gb, when only has 512 mb)

- When installed a .obb apk data (cache), ie a pirated app of the many pages that are on the network, moving his data to the "Memory", and installed the apk, the question was that when starting the game and in spite of having the data obb in the folder, the game would not start, but if you disabled external sd (where by the way, when you install the apk this created a folder for meta data there, when the he had internal memory) started the game normal, the same as the file was in obb

- There was no way multitasking use (it awarded 512 of ram and software)

- Mentioning again giving false data (internal storage, ram, etc, which awarded the modified software or something more)

Well, the point I want to make is that because of all these problems decides to flash the rom a very similar device (I mean also that I could not make a backup of the rom because even though I had all the drivers, tools and other the mtkdroid application tools I would not allow it, and neither could I make a copy of the IMEI that like applications pc applications android (mobileuncle for example) I permitted (device not compatible. Download the rom BLU NEO X, who was one of the many devices SoC MT6580 and 512 of ram (at least that's what I saw), and try to install with SP flashtool, flashing came out successful, but when I followed the footsteps of another forum, saying he should disconnect after it leaves the window "success", the phone no longer worked.

If anyone can help me giving me ideas where else can I find the stock rom of that device, or if there is any way to revive the less in recovery to try to do something, please do so; It is that it is forbidden rom's asking in this forum, but after searching for several days, you can say I'm already losing hope

XT1250 wiped with TWRP... now can't install O.S.

So basically, after I rooted, I was stuck in a bootloop at the "warning: bootloader unlocked" screen when I tried to boot, so I tried "factory reset" with the same result. Then I DL'd the stock xt1250 firmware and the update back to 5.0.2 (which the phone had before I F'd it up), but TWRP won't install either of them.

I can access the bootloader, and TWRP recovery, but any other option from the bootloader, or restarting results back in the "warning: bootleader unlocked" screen loop

I've seen a few places on here that there is a Brazilian version of 6.0.1 that it TWRP-able, but living in the U.S.of.A. and not being able to speak Portuguese, I was wondering if that would work for me?

Yu Yureka Plus - No audio - No sim - Error.

Few days back when I turned my phone on after charging. It stopped to detect my Sim in any slot and there was an audio error when playing audio or video file. No youtube, no recording and no alerts even.

After some troubleshooting(which didn't work obviously) I decided to restore it to factory setting. but that didn't work as well. I tried flashing it with custom FireHound-BurntAss-2.0-20160912-tomato but still the same.

Now I have no ROM.

Help guys.

Have an unlocked G900T with AT&T SIM. Can I enable WiFi calling?

I bought an unlocked G900T for use on the AT&T network. I choose this over the the AT&T version of the phone because this one had some extra LTE Cat4 bands or something. Which in retrospect is kinda dumb since I don't even know what those are.

Anyway, the phone actually works great outside of some extraneous T-Mobile apps. The only thing I can't get to work is WiFi calling. When I try to enable it, I get an "invalid SIM" error message.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem, with or without rooting? (I have not rooted this phone, but I am open to the idea if it's needed to solve this problem)

Downgrade Huawei p8

i have huawei p8 model number GRACE GRA-C900B370 marshmallow and i have been trying to downgrade with no luck, the battery life is horrible on this android version.
i downloaded the OS and extracted the dload file and all and when it starts updating it doesn't go past 5%.

Cm problems

Went to 3.5.2 and didn't like it and when I came back to 3.2.6 finger print scanner stopped working and volte stopped working so I followed a method to to downgrade and now it only works on stock roms and on cm roms they don't work at all anyone know what to do

I have XT1541 ( UK edition Single sim) . I am on Stock MM noq and some days ago i bought a 4g JIo sim but it wasn't showing any service in my phone only. The same sim is working in other 4g phones so i flashed different roms including stock LP, MM and few custom roms but still it isnt showing any network. So, i was wondering that XT1541's modem files aren't working here in india for 4g Bands . So, can i flash the indian variant's modem files so i could get my network Back

Why is Whatsapp using so much internal memory with useless files and enormous logs?

Hello everyone!
While I was cleaning my internal memory deleting cache and some app data, I found that almost 30% of my 2gb dedicated app memory has been used by Whatsapp (≈640MB)
This doesn't include Media files on SD CARD (1,3GB)
Sooo, I started to think about it.
It's true that I have so many conversations stored, but god damn it 640MB?

So I opened the Root File Explorer and start digging inside data/data/com.whatsapp
Inside /databases/ I found a strange file apart from the actual message database which is about 282MB.
It was called "msgstore.db_new" (140MB) and it was unmodified since April.

I moved it to the SD card and Whatsapp still works perfectly fine with all my conversations available, so what the **** is that file supposed to do?
Also, I found a tmp log file (90MB) that contains MORE THAN 30k pages of log and almost 7M words . WHY is this so neccesary so it's stored in the internal files and not on cache!?
Sometimes at some pages it includes the package name of all my installed apps (maybe whatsapp collects info about everyone's installed apps??) and also contains info about all my numbers and names.
A single second of time can stand for more than 30 pages of log.

I don't understand what is going on.

Am I the only bored by Android this year?

I've heard many said 2016 was the worst year of releases of Android devices. I just feel like nothing has really been exciting, it's kind of like the same ole same ole this year. Many may laugh, but the Nextbit Robin has been the most exciting release for me this year. Reasoning being is they actually did something to differentiate themselves by not just focusing on the same ole same ole hardware specs battle (Though I do believe they need to make some improvements for their sucessors), but using software to advance their smartphone and its experience. There have been many improvements made to it, the gallery app, camera app, some upcoming cloud updates like battery life, etc.

I however was impressed by the OnePlus 3 this year, and I thought the Axon 7 is a great smartphone (though I'm not too keen on the camera quality). Other than that, I'm kind of meh this year. People debated on who's the top at times, but honestly, I prefer a smartphone company to just do something great that's unique. I kind of hope Blackberry doesn't die off with their smartphone line. I think they still have something unique and different that the can bring to their own line of smartphones.

Any thoughts?

Any smartphone anyone else has been excited for this year that have already been released or that will be releasing before this year's end?

N5 opening links in messages

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get my phone to stop opening links in the stock messages.
Rather than open it up in chrome (my preferred browser) it opens in a window inside messages and I have the option at the top to open in chrome if I choose.
Where is the setting to change that?

SuperSU uninstallation failed?

So pokemon go recently banned rooted players from being able to play lmao
And theres a work around by using magisks systemless root
But to do so you have to unroot via supersu, and every time i try it says "Uninstallation Failed !"
Not sure what to do from here...any suggestions?
Preferably like to avoid going back to stock and then doing the magisk method if possible.

[GUIDE] Use Gesture Controls to avoid having to use Physical Buttons

If you're like me and you don't really like the soft-keys, you should also like this workaround. So I absolutely dislike having to press the physical home button especially since I'm coming from a history of Nexus devices and the fact that it throws off the balance of the device annoys me. (Yes, I know it's an extremely shallow problem haha)

My workaround was to use on-screen buttons. However, the screen is already 5 inches so I didn't want to use any screen real estate for buttons. Came across an app called All-In-One Gestures that lets you create gesture actions. If it's something that sounds interesting to you, you should give it a try as it makes navigating much more intuitive (opinion, of course).

My setup is currently a swipe up from the bottom of the screen in the middle for home, swipe diagonally from the left edge for back, and swipe diagonally from the right for multitasking. So if I'm using it left handed, a swipe will go back and a touch of the closest button will be multitasking, and if I'm using it right handed, a swipe will open the multitasking tray while a touch to the closest button will go back. It's proven really efficient for me!

Recovery mode seems to clobber the USB driver on Windows 10

Similar questions to this have been asked before but got no replies so, in desparation, am asking again.

Bought my phone second hand. On starting, it shows the Vodafone logo so assume it's branded.
About Phone -> Software Information shows:

Android Version: 2.3.5

HTC Sense version: 3.0

Software number: 2.10.161.5

HBOOT shows:

Now for the problem:
I'm trying to set S-OFF and root the phone but my PC, running Windows 10, is unable to communicate with the phone when it's in Recovery mode.
The entry for My HTC under Android USB Devices in Device Manager disappears once I start the phone in Recovery mode and connect it to my PC via a USB cable.

At this point Device manager on my PC shows under USB Controllers an entry for an unknown USB Device (Device failed enumeration) and the Hardware Ids show as USB\UNKNOWN.

I'd really appreciate someone familiar with this area throwing some light on what could be going on here and perhaps giving me some pointers on how to resolve this.

Question about udpating from 5.1.1 to 6.0

Hello, im new in root and all that stuff.
I have my Moto g 3gen phh supersu Rooted, xposed framework instaled, and magisk instaled.
My phone have android 5.1.1 and it shows me the message to update to android 6.0
Can i update to android 6.0 with my phone rooted, xposed framework instaled, and magisk instaled?
Or do i need to unroot my phone and uninstall those programs to update to 6.0?

Will i lost any info when i update android?

Muffled voice, poor call quality issue - still Android 7.0?

way back Google has acknowledged this issue and hoping it will be fixed in Android 7.0 update, but still there. This issue seems to be related to the noise-cancelling mic found on the back of the device.
I know some people posted some workaround such as covering up the mic fixes the issue, or persist.audio.fluence.voicecall=true, and changing it to false in build.prop (if rooted, which I am not).
I know there are tons of post related this (searching Google gives many of them), I was just wondering if anyone seen any improvement after 7.0 update or pretty much the same or any other workaround that worked for you..

Can't theme mobile data icon

Hey!

The mobile data icon in the status bar is always white, never turns dark on apps like Google calendar etc. This applies to sim 1 and sim 2. Now I flashed a custom ROM (stock based) radium Redefined and the bug is still there. Even layers can't theme those icons. Can you tell me why this happens? Is there a way to fix it?

Predictive text not remembering punctuations or emojis on marshmallow does

Does anyone know why on 6.0.1 marshmallow Samsung predictive text does not remember punctuations like question marks or emojis but only remembers the words written? It's very annoying.

I write a lot of the same responses and on lollipop it would remember emojis and punctuations perfectly why does it only remembers the words in predictive text and not anything else.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hello Everyone! After we finally got root and twrp custom recovery on this lil Pre-Paid phone I started messing with custom roms. You'll be happy to hear I got the most current version CM13 working! However there are some bugs I need to iron out before I can release a twrp recovery for it. First and foremost is the touch screen. How do the drivers work in android? are the Libraries/modules from the stock rom what I need or they in the kernel? I'm excellent with computers, windows, and command line. Which has gotten me this far. However, I'll be the first to admit I know very little about linux and android. I get the feeling that the libraries are a little like .dll files and APKs are .exe equivalent. Basically, I need to know what to copy/modify from the stock rom to get the touch interface working again in "laymans terms" because of limited exp with android. HELP need serious advice here.

Hi,good afternoon,my friend brought me his HTC one m9,because i have experience with these things, i have flashed many devices of different brands but this is my first HTC device.

Well the problem is this:

He unlocked the botloader,installed TWRP ,super SU.zip (via twrp) and a custom rom with s-on,after that he lost signal,the phone does not have imei and baseband is uknown.

I've searched trough xda ,before posting this,so i came across with a thread that said that the phone can recover signal flashing a custom rom and a kernel,did that with no success. And also i've read that returning the bootloader to locked status,will allow me to flash a RUU file in order to get back to stock.

So, i relocked the bootloader,using CMD, but now the phone just boots into bootloader ,i can enter download mode aswell,but its stucked there.

Phone is recognized by windows,via fastboot.

So,the phone status is bootloader relocked,and s-on.

i´ve tried flashing the RUU via sdcard on download mode and gives me error,also i tried using fastboot commands and the result is the same,i can not flash the RUU file.

Any suggestions are very apreciated. Thanks fot your time.

I find a reason of note7 link speed only 433Mbps.

I guess I've found the reason. Note 7 is very likely just a 1-Stream of MUMIMO. My router is R8500, I compared the R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.0.56 and R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.2.54. On 1.0.0.56 can negotiate to 866Mbps, On Version 1.0.2.54 is only 433Mbps. Version 1.0.2.54 adds support MUMIMO characteristics.

Cannot enter recovery

I had bricked my phone and falshed (rootable) 5.0.2 ftf. I now can start it and have rooted it, but cannot enter recovery. I had dual recovery installed (volume down for TWRP, up for Philz touch). Now I cannot enter either of them and the phone just boots normally. I also tried connecting to comptuer and running command adb reboot recovery. Same thing. I tried rebooting to recovery using TWRP manager app, but it fails. I would like to be able to flash .zip files so this is why I want it.

Exposed Power Nap & Do Not Disturb Mode

Hi!

Im using DO Not DIsturb feature and Power Nap Xposed module. Powernap works fine and so the Do Not Disturb mode. The Do Not disturb mode enables at 22 and dissables at 7 in the morning but when powernap is enabled do not disturb mode doesnt turn off automatically.

Does anyone know what should I add to powernap's exclusion list for do not disturb mode turn off automatically?

Stock Nexus 6P wont flash OTA

OK, so I am at a loss. I have installed Android Studio, SDK Manager and updated everything I can think of, plus everything that any developer on the web says should be updated. I have checked that the drivers are updated, but every time I try to sideload the latest OTA for my Nexus 6P I get the message "error: no devices/emulators found."

I have done the following:
a) USB debugging is enabled under Developer Options on the device
b) When I execute "adb devices" it shows the device
c) When I execute "adb reboot recovery" it reboots into In recovery
d) I then choose "select update from adb" on the device
e) And then try to execute "adb sideload angler-ota-nrd90u-ffef6b27.zip" only to be given the message that its loading and then "error" no devices/emulator found"

I have searched the web and tried all of the "fixes" and still cannot get the OTA to load, currently tried about 10 times and all have ended up needing to just reboot the system. Does anyone out there have any ideas of the problem and a solution? I have seen several forums that show others with the same issue, but none seem to verify if they have been able to correct the problem. Currently updated to Nougat through the beta program, but my devices shows that I am on NRD90M, which according to the Nexus Files for Developers is for the "ryu" for Pixel C?

Really would like to update the OS to the latest security patch prior to the October date, can anyone help?

AT&T HTC One X-Help Updating hboot 1.14 ViperXL Rom to Lollipop (EVITA Model)

Its been a while since I've done anything on my AT&T HTC One. I'm still on 1.14 unlocked bootloader and an old ViperVL 3.2.2 Rom. I want to upgrade to Lollipop CM12 so I've done a lot of research and I wanted to make sure I'm doing it right before starting.

This is what I believe I need to do:
1. Update TWRP to v2.7.1.0 or higher to support new ROM
2. Get s-off in the bootloader using firewater
3. Once S-OFF is done, put phone in fastboot mode and run the RUU 3.18 JellyBean update (Its my understanding we need the JB bootloader for Lollipop custom ROM to work?)
4. Flash TWRP v2.7.1.0 back via fastboot
5. Go into recovery and flash New Rooted CM12 Rom

Before I start this method I also have a few questions:
1. Does my above steps seem right?

2. I'm having a hard time finding a working 3.18 RUU link. Most of the links on here are dead now. Is the RUU update a required step to jump from ViperXL 3.2 (bootloader v1.14) to Lollipop based roms? If its required, I found the OTA JB 3.18 update. Can I use the OTA version instead?

3. I've read that as long as the bootloader is already unlocked with S-OFF, I won't lose S-off or the unlocked bootloader from the RUU. Is this correct or will I need to unlock bootloader (Via HTC's dev site) and root again after using the JB RUU?
